On 5 December 2023, a joint meeting of the Parliamentary Working Group on Gagauzia was held in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.
The meeting was chaired by the speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Grosu, and the co-chairpersons of the working group, Larisa Voloh and Serghei Cimpoes. The meeting was attended by members of the Working Group from the Parliament and People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, the legal department of the legislative body and representatives of CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation.
The participants discussed the mandate of the Working Group, current issues and expressed their commitment to continue the dialogue by finding solutions on this platform.
At the same time, the Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament reiterated that this platform for dialogue is the only instrument through which the communication between the centre and the autonomy is carried out. He also urged the members of the Working Group to make joint efforts to ensure the functioning of the cooperation mechanism between the Parliament and the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia.
