On June 26, 2023, a retreat was held between representatives of the secretariats of the Parliament and the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia on the effective functioning of the Parliamentary Working Group on Gagauzia (PWG) and the improvement of inter-institutional cooperation. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Parliamentary Working Group and the Executive Committee of Gagauzia, as well as experts from CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation.
During the meeting, participants discussed what measures could be adopted to increase and strengthen the effective functioning of the Parliamentary Working Group on Gagauzia and identified elements of an effective action plan to ensure the sustainability of the dialogue platform. The experts also presented their visions for ways to improve the technical process of interaction of the group’s secretariats and discussed ideas for effective implementation of the consultations mechanism, by the legislative bodies, which was approved by the working group and adopted by the Parliament and the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia respectively.

The meeting was organised within the “Gagauzia Dialogue” project, implemented by CMI and funded by Sweden. The project brings together legislators, experts and stakeholders from Chisinau, Comrat and other regions of the country to find joint solutions on issues related to the Gagauzia autonomy.
