A group of journalists discussed the role of media in promoting dialogue, mutual understanding and social cohesion

On June 25-26, 25 journalists from Chisinau, Comrat, Balti participated in a training on comparative practices related to international autonomies and to understand the importance of media in informing the population.

The international experts from Eurac Research, Elisabeth Alber and Francisco Javier Romero Caro from the South Tyrol autonomy in Italy presented the structures, competences and the way autonomies in Italy, Spain, Canada work. Also. Participants learned about media work from the perspective of fair, inclusive communication in relation to ethnic minorities and diversity.

Journalists discussed international best practices on decentralization, minority language protection and dialogue mechanisms applied in other autonomies. During the training, participants also received useful information about the particularities of the functioning of the Gagauz autonomy. They exchanged views on the role of the media in informing the population and the importance of dialogue and respect between the center and the autonomy as solutions for peaceful coexistence between the ethnic groups of the country.

The strategic communication expert, Ion Grosu, involved the participants in practical exercises on adapting messages to the audience, creating written and video content, learning new tools, models and channels for obtaining information. By working side by side for two days, journalists from Chisinau, Balti and Comrat had the opportunity to get to know each other better, and also to establish new contacts for their future work.
