On 20 December 2024, the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova organised an event dedicated to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Autonomy. President Maia Sandu together with Speaker Igor Grosu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean discussed with members of the Gagauz community emphasizing the essence of the autonomy, created to protect and promote the Gagauz language, culture, and traditions, and the need for renewed efforts to ensure that these goals are truly achieved.
The participants also discussed the need for reestablishment of constructive dialogue between Chisinau and Comrat to support sustainable development, community welfare and better mutual understanding.
During the event, a documentary film and a book entitled “Gagauzia – 30 years of Autonomy” were presented to the audience. The materials, elaborated in the framework of the national communication campaign implemented throughout 2024, year are targeted to raise awareness on Gagauz history, culture and traditions and thus to contribute to social cohesion and inter-ethnic unity in the country.
