CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation conducted an open lesson for students at the State University of Moldova

On March 15, 2023, representatives of CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, Steve Young, Country Manager, and Natalia Djandjgava, Project Manager, conducted an open lesson for Master’s Degree students of the Faculty of International Relations, Political and Administrative Studies (FRISPA). This was organized in the framework of the program “Days of FRISPA Student of the State University of Moldova (March 13 – 17, 2023)”.

The event was attended by Master’s Degree students who specialize in European Studies, Diplomatic Studies, Security Studies and Public Administration, university lecturers and Doctoral students. The participants learned about CMI, the project “Supporting the Institutionalized and Sustainable Dialogue on the Autonomy of Gagauzia”, the Parliamentary Working Group on Gagauzia and the dialogue processes between Chisinau and Comrat. During the presentation and discussion participants had a question-and-answer session regarding the principles and activities of CMI and the implementation of the project “Gagauzia Dialogue” in the Republic of Moldova.

“I learned a lot about how the organization works for peace and I understood that it takes a lot of diplomacy and dialogue to prevent or resolve a conflict. I knew little about Gagauzia but I wish there were policies that would allow for preserving the Gagauz language”, said a student who specializes in Diplomatic Studies.

The students said that they like to take part in such open discussions, in order to be able to learn straight from the source about practical subjects such as dialogue processes, methods of elaborating public policies, about international organizations and their activities in the Republic of Moldova.
